The narrative begins in the brooding ancient wilderness where barbarian adventurer Conan and pirate Valeria converge on a mysterious city. Isolated by a perimeter of lethal forests and predatory monsters, they enter Xuchotl, a dead metropolis gripped by a fifty-year civil war. The city is inhabited by two warring factions of descendants who have turned the grand jade halls into a labyrinth of silent assassinations, traps, and dark wizardry. Welcomed by Prince Olmec of the Tecuhltli clan, they soon discover the terrifying depths of the feud that consumes every waking moment of the inhabitants.
As Conan explores the deserted halls and catacombs, he uncovers the terrifying secrets of the ancient city, including the surviving horrors from the crypts. Betrayal lurks beneath the surface as Olmec schemes to possess Valeria and eliminate Conan. Meanwhile, the ancient immortal queen Tascela plots to drain Valeria's youth to sustain her own centuries-old existence. The narrative crescendos into an apocalyptic bloodbath when the long-lost wizard Tolkemec returns from the catacombs with a deadly jade wand that destroys the remaining populace in a final, fiery massacre. Conan and Valeria must fight their way through the collapsing ruins of the city, overcoming betrayal and dark sorcery, to finally escape the cursed confines of Xuchotl and return to the open world.
