Раздел 6. Что когда две палаты разделяются для принятия решения по возражению, которое могло быть сделано к подсчету любого голоса или голосов выборщиков от любого штата, или по другому вопросу, возникающему в этом деле, каждый сенатор и представитель может высказаться по такому возражению или вопросу в течение пяти минут и не более одного раза; но после того, как такие дебаты продлятся два часа, обязанностью председательствующего лица каждой палаты является поставить основной вопрос без дальнейших дебатов.
Раздел 7. Такое совместное заседание не должно быть распущено до тех пор, пока подсчет голосов выборщиков не будет завершен и результат не будет объявлен; и никакой перерыв не должен объявляться, если не возник вопрос относительно подсчета любых таких голосов или иным образом в соответствии с настоящим законом, в каковом случае любая из палат, действуя раздельно, способом, предусмотренным выше, может распорядиться о перерыве такой палаты не более чем до следующего календарного дня, за исключением воскресенья, в десять часов утра. Но если подсчет голосов выборщиков и объявление результата не будут завершены до пятого календарного дня после такой первой встречи двух палат, никакой дальнейший или иной перерыв не должен объявляться ни одной из палат.
