Даже там, где у людей не было ходивших среди них рукописей, их умы были богатейшим хранилищем стихов и песен. Друг написал мне на днях из Америки, чтобы я расспросил жившего в графстве Голуэй человека, у которого, как он полагал, были рукописи. [48] Это прямой результат системы, проводимой Национальным советом, который отказывается обучать детей чему бы то ни было о Патрике и Бригите, но который неустанно подсовывает им английские образцы из вторых рук.
