ВВЕДЕНИЕ.
Нижеследующее описание центральных эскимосов содержит главным образом результаты собственных наблюдений и коллекций автора, собранных во время поездки в Камберленд-Саунд и к Девисову проливу, дополненные выписками из отчетов других путешественников. Географические результаты этой поездки были опубликованы в отдельном томе.1 Несколько предания, которые Бюро этнологии сочло непригодными для публикации, можно найти в журнале «Verhandlungen der Berliner Gesellschaft für Anthropologie, Ethnologie und Urgeschichte», 1887.
